Frequently asked questions:

_

How should I prepare for my in-home massage session?

Ideally make sure you are relaxed and well hydrated. I will bring everything required for the massage session. Ideally try to avoid eating before a session, with no food for at least half an hour prior, and no alcohol during the day before the massage.

Are there any side-effects to a massage?

You may feel aches in the hours or days after a full body massage, as your muscles get used to being manipulated. Likewise you may feel drowsy or thirsty right after a massage, so it is important to stay hydrated. If possible try to get some rest after your massage too.

What clothing do I need to remove?

Only take off as much as you are comfortable to remove. You can be as receptive and open to the massage process as possible. Communicate with your massage therapist, and let them know expectations before the massage.

Do I need to provide any equipment or supplies?

I will bring everything needed. If you have your own towels and would prefer use of those, do let me know.

Is it safe to receive a massage if I have a specific medical condition or injury?

No. Please don't ask for a massage whilst under medical care, including pregnancy, due to risk of infection.

How long does each massage session last, and can I book extended sessions?

You can book a massage for up to an hour. Extended sessions are available upon request.

What are the benefits of regular massage therapy?

Better quality of sleep and decreased muscle stiffness. You will feel relaxed and invigorated for the rest of the day, and often for many days afterwards. Massage is also said to confer benefits to the immune system, improve mobility and joint function, and enhanced circulation.

What should I do for aftercare?

Drink lots of fluid, and don't drink alcohol or exercise for a few hours afterwards. Rest as much as possible for the rest of the day or at least a few hours if possible.

Are there any age restrictions?

For body treatments, all clients must be over 18 years old.

For scalp massages, clients can be 14 years or over, although anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult during the treatment.

Are there any medical limitations?

Yes.

Please do not book treatment if you have an infectious disease or skin condition.

If you have any of the following conditions please seek medical advice beforehand, and provide a letter from your doctor for my reassurance: Heart or circulatory problems, high or low blood pressure, diabetes, epilepsy, deep vein thrombosis, recent surgery.

Unfortunately, I cannot treat anyone receiving treatment for cancer. If you have previously had cancer and now are clear, please consult your doctor and provide a letter as required.
